Insurance

Insurance comes under the Financial Services Act, which means that no-one can give advice unless registered. It means, e.g. managers may not help others to complete proposal forms or claims.

Public Liability covers legal liability for death or injury to people (other than employees) and loss of, and damage to, other people's property.

Professional Indemnity is for those giving advice, whether or not a fee is charged.

Employers Liability is a legal obligation if you directly employ anyone, but contract labour can be a grey area and is still advisable.

All risks is cover for loss, damage and theft of machines/equipment.

Woodlands can be insured for fire and storm damage.

Cover should be appropriate in terms of value and condition. Insurers must be informed of any material changes such as the type of work undertaken.
